Elmo's (Under)World.

Readers of this blog will undoubtedly recognize my husband's, um bizarre, and sometimes twisted sense of humor. To his credit, he spends most of his days rubbing elbows with highly unsavory and shady characters and I think his unique outlook on life serves as an outlet of sorts.

Anyway, on our recent trip to the Keys, Josh and I got to hear a LOT of Elmo. We can quote Elmo's World with the same deft precision that an English Lit major quotes Shakespeare. It was somewhere around Miami and another Elmo dvd (read: 45 minute respite from toddler screaming) was winding up. Hoping to sustain the peace, I quickly reached for the dvd folder and asked Molly what she wanted to see next. Pets? Wake Up With Elmo? Springtime?

Josh, obvious a little delerious from the road, chimes in:

"Hi! This is Elmo's World! Elmo is SO HAPPY to see you! And so is Dorothy! Say hello, Dorothy! Can you guess what Elmo is thinking about today? (Ya da da DAAAAA!) Crack Cocaine! That's right, CRACK COCAINE!"

The car is silent. A few moments pass and Molly says:

"Wanna watch Crack?"

In the two weeks since the trip she has, unprompted, requested to see the "Elmo Crack Video" on 5 or 6 separate occasions. On a positive note, we've taught her to say, "Crack is whack!"
